LINDA S. JUDSON, ESQUIRE
PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
LINDA S. JUDSON is a practicing attorney whose range of legal experience makes her a truly exceptional candidate for Commonwealth Court. Her extensive background includes workers’ compensation, insurance, labor, land use & zoning, health & environment, and corporate regulation. All of these are areas of law that come before the state-wide Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania.
In 1979 Linda completed a nursing program at St. Francis Hospital, and worked for six years as a Licensed Practical Nurse while attending night school at the University of Pittsburgh. She graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in Political Science in 1986. Continuing to work full time in legal positions while attending Duquesne University School of Law, she earned her J.D. and passed the bar in 1990. She is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for Western Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Linda was Senior Law Clerk in the Allegheny County Law Department for three years, beginning while still in law school, and she then served as a clerk for the Commonwealth Court. Her medical training has also been valuable in many aspects of her legal career.
For much of her career Linda has specialized in workers’ compensation litigation, representing both claimants and defendants. She advises clients in the areas of regulatory and case law compliance, as well as implementation of safe work programs, with the goal of reducing worker injury. Her recognition as an expert in workers’ compensation has lead to her role as a presenter of continuing education legal seminars for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and Lorman Education Services.
Linda has a strong background in insurance, another area heard by the court. As an attorney, she became familiar with the complex laws regulating insurance, and earned a Pennsylvania commercial insurance license. She has provided guidance to hospitals and other clients, emphasizing the importance of work place safety and regulatory compliance.
Linda also has seen both sides of the labor and regulatory issues that come before the Court. She was Director of Risk Management and Insurance, Employee Benefits, and Human Resources at one of the top 100 construction companies in the U.S. where she worked toward the reduction of workplace injuries through implementation of safety programs and compliance with regulations.
In 2006 Linda was appointed by former Mayor Bob O’Connor to an unpaid position on the Board of the Pittsburgh Parking Authority. She serves as Treasurer of the Board, and her legal knowledge of zoning, land use, finance, and workers’ compensation and other labor issues have all served the Authority.
Linda received a “recommended” rating from the Pennsylvania Bar Association for judge of the Commonwealth Court.
